As an industry leader in maritime technology, Greenroom Robotics is well-equipped to assist in a diverse range of maritime operations worldwide. In September of this year (2023), our Program Manager and CIO, Zac Pullen, travelled to San Diego, California, to collaborate with one of our partners, Inkfish, in advancing deep sea technology.

Inkfish is a marine organisation that provides support and services to marine researchers working across all depths of the ocean.

Zac was onboard RV Dagon to assist in the recommissioning of the DSV Bakunawa submarine, previously known as the DSV Limiting Factor, following its recent maintenance period.

Greenroom has a longstanding familiarity with the Bakunawa sub, as Zac and our team provided project management, engineering services, big data management, and logistics support for a major refit in 2021 before its acquisition by Inkfish.

During the most recent refit, Greenroom integrated the latest version of our maritime operations system, MarOps, to aid in collecting and analysing the submarine's findings. MarOps is utilised onboard to enhance marine researchers’ capabilities in exploring uncharted ocean territories, offering advanced planning, data collection, and data analysis features.

In addition to assisting with the refit, Zac worked closely with the Inkfish team to gain a deeper understanding of their operations and workflows. This collaboration enabled Greenroom to customise a version of MarOps that addresses Inkfish's unique challenges and pain points. Observing Inkfish's cutting-edge subsea operations firsthand provides invaluable insights, allowing Greenroom to enhance subsea efficiency for all users by incorporating the most relevant and impactful features into our systems.

Upon completing the refit and his collaboration with Inkfish, Zac embraced the spirit of adventure by extending his stay in California. His explorations ranged from the coastal beauty off San Diego to the majestic landscapes of Yosemite National Park.

Greenroom is proud to partner with an organisation as driven and mission aligned as Inkfish. Together, we are committed to advancing deep sea technology to support vital scientific research. Stay connected with the latest and greatest from Greenroom via our social media.
