Greenroom Robotics Wins WA Innovator of the Year for Growth Innovation

We’re thrilled to share that Greenroom Robotics has been named the 2025 Western Australia Innovator of the Year – Rio Tinto Growth Innovation Award winner for our flagship autonomy platform, GAMA (Greenroom Advanced Maritime Autonomy).

Now in its 19th year, the WA Innovators of the Year program celebrates the State’s brightest entrepreneurial and inventive minds. The Growth Innovation category recognises post-revenue innovations that deliver clear economic, social, or environmental benefit to Western Australia, and we couldn’t be prouder to see GAMA recognised among them.

Accepting the award on behalf of Greenroom Robotics – GM of Growth, Peter Baker; Business Support Coordinator, Yvonne Artis; and Robotics Engineer, Leon McEniery.

Powering Safe, Clean, and Protected Oceans

Working at sea has always been complex, costly, and high-risk. GAMA changes that.

GAMA is the brain that helps turn any boat into an autonomous vessel. As a hardware-agnostic platform, it can be retrofitted to virtually any boat or incorporated into new-build vessels, as is the case with our recent partnership with Austal.

By pairing human crews with intelligent software, GAMA takes care of the heavy lifting by enhancing vigilance, reducing human error, and cutting fuel and emissions through smarter control and routing. It’s already proving its value across defence, offshore energy, transport, and research, helping to make maritime operations safer, cleaner, and more sustainable.

From WA to the World

Winning this award is both an honour and a testament to our efforts to build the software backbone for maritime autonomy, right here in Western Australia.

Our next chapter is about scaling globally — expanding our presence in the United States and the United Kingdom, growing our team, and continuing to push the boundaries of what autonomous maritime systems can achieve.

We’re also exploring ways to use our technology to support non-profit research initiatives that advance ocean science and conservation. To us, innovation means little if it doesn’t help protect the world we share.

A Huge Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, Rio Tinto, and the New Industries Fund for recognising our work, and to the entire Greenroom team for the passion, creativity, and persistence that make innovation like GAMA possible.

We’re proud to be part of Western Australia’s growing innovation ecosystem and even prouder to help carry it to the world.
