Minister Papalia visits Greenroom as WA’s defence tech strengthens AUKUS alliance

Today, Defence Industries Minister Paul Papalia visited Greenroom Robotics as he promotes the strength of Western Australia’s defence industry ahead of leading a delegation to the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) conference in London this September.
DSEI is one of the world’s largest defence exhibitions and will connect WA businesses with international supply chains and industry leaders. Minister Papalia will use the DSEI mission to showcase WA’s innovation on the global stage.
Greenroom Robotics is proud to be among the WA companies selected to showcase their world-leading technologies at the event. The company recently became one of the first Australian businesses granted AUKUS Authorised User Status, enabling licence-free export of its advanced autonomy software to the United States and United Kingdom.
“My ambition is to grow WA’s defence sector to be the State’s second largest industry after mining. …Western Australia has some incredible businesses and the technology created by Greenroom Robotics right here in WA is already having a global impact and helping to strengthen the AUKUS alliance.”

Greenroom’s world-leading navigation and situational awareness software can transform any ship or boat into a fully autonomous, AI-enabled vessel. The technology is already in use across AUKUS nations and has been successfully trialled by the Royal Australian Navy, U.S. Department of Defence, and key partners including Austal, EGS Survey, and UK-based SubSea Craft.
James Keane, CEO and Co-Founder of Greenroom Robotics, said:
“Western Australia is emerging as a global leader in maritime technology, and we’re proud that our cutting-edge autonomy software is rapidly scaling internationally. We’re excited to be chosen to be part of this delegation that brings our tested and proven maritime autonomy to the global stage.”
