At Greenroom Robotics, our commitment to supporting those who have served extends far beyond the workplace. As a veteran-owned Australian company, we proudly sponsored The Happy Wanderer in the 2024 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race—a team crewed by current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel, including our CEO, James Keane.

Now in its 79th year, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart stands as one of the world's most challenging and respected ocean races. Born from the spirit of World War II sailors eager to embrace peacetime pursuits, this 628-nautical-mile (1,163 kilometers) journey tests crews against the fierce waters between Sydney Harbour and Hobart. The route carries sailors down Australia's southeastern coast, across the formidable Bass Strait, past the Iron Pot, and finally up the River Derwent to Hobart—a test of seamanship that typically takes even the fastest vessels around 48 hours to complete.

Having braved the challenging waters in both 2019 and 2024, the crew exemplifies the enduring spirit of service that defines our military community. Through The Happy Wanderer, they champion a vital cause: raising funds for the Wandering Warriors Foundation, which provides essential education, employment, and mentoring programs for veterans transitioning to civilian life.

This year brought remarkable success, with the team raising $130,000 – surpassing their 2019 total of $110,000. These funds directly support veterans pursuing higher education and building meaningful careers beyond their military service.

The crew's performance spoke volumes about veteran capability and determination. They claimed the prestigious Oggin Cup as the first military-crewed yacht to finish, secured 2nd place in both Corinthian IRC and PHS divisions, and achieved an impressive 12th place overall among more than 100 boats.

At Greenroom Robotics, the maritime world shapes everything we do. Our work in autonomous vessel technologies flows naturally from our deep connection to the sea, driven by the core values of resilience, adaptability, and teamwork that define military service.

The dedication and achievement shown throughout this campaign speak to the enduring capabilities of our service members. The Happy Wanderer stands as a powerful symbol of the strength and commitment that veterans bring to every challenge they face.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families, friends, and fellow sailors affected by the tragic loss of life during this year's race. The sailing community mourns with you, and honors the courage of those who pursued their passion on the high seas.

As we look toward 2025, The Happy Wanderer sets course for an ambitious goal of raising $150,000 for the Wandering Warriors Foundation. At Greenroom Robotics, we stand proudly with this exceptional team, united in our mission to support veterans and their families.

Through partnerships like The Happy Wanderer, we're navigating new ways to strengthen and support our veteran community, guided by the same values that serve us at sea.
