Greenroom Robotics wins Innovation Award at Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference 2026
At this year's Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) conference, Greenroom Robotics' Lookout+ took out the AMDA Innovation Award. We couldn't be more proud to share it with the team, our partners, and the broader Australian defence community pushing the boundaries of what's possible at sea.
The problem we built Lookout+ to solve
Modern maritime operators aren't short on sensors. Radar, AIS, EO/IR cameras, navigation systems, combat systems. The data is everywhere.
The challenge is twofold. First, making sense of that volume of information fast enough to matter. Crews are expected to process enormous amounts of data, track threats, maintain situational awareness, and make critical decisions in real time. That cognitive load is relentless, and in contested environments, a missed contact isn't just an operational problem. It's a safety and security risk.
Second, there are environments where you can't rely on those sensors at all. In EMCON conditions, vessels can't emit. GNSS can be denied. AIS can be spoofed or unavailable. Radar gives away your position. When the standard sensor stack is off the table, operators still need to know what's around them.
That's the gap Lookout+ fills.
What Lookout+ does
Lookout+ is an AI-enabled maritime perception system (what we often describe as an optical radar) that uses electro-optical and infrared cameras combined with advanced computer vision and sensor fusion to automatically detect, classify, track, and geolocate objects in the maritime environment. In real time, using only passive onboard sensors.
For crewed vessels, that means dramatically reduced cognitive load and the confidence to operate with leaner crews without compromising capability.
But Lookout+ isn't just a crew-assist tool. It's one of the foundational technologies enabling maritime autonomy, so that you can take eyeballs off the vessel and continue to see.
Not a lab demo. A deployed capability.
Lookout+ is mature, operationally deployed, and already supporting maritime programs across all three AUKUS nations, integrated onto autonomous vessels, patrol craft, and advanced maritime platforms ranging from tactical systems through to large-scale autonomy programs.
And because it's software-defined and hardware agnostic, it can be rapidly integrated onto existing fleets using commercial-off-the-shelf cameras and compute. No vessel redesign required.
What winning means to us
The AMDA Innovation Program exists to spotlight innovations across all stages of development and give them a platform at Australia's premier defence industry events. Being named a winner is a genuine honour, and one we share with our team, whose work continues to push what's possible in maritime technology.
We're also proud to stand alongside the many innovative Australian organisations contributing to sovereign defence capability. Programs like these are a reminder of the innovation and tenacity that exists in Australia's defence tech community.
A huge thank you to AMDA" for the recognition and for continuing to shine a light on the businesses making waves in Australian defence tech.
